WELCOME TO QUEST

MESSAGE:
PREACHER:  Kat Armas
PASSAGE:

Kat Armas.webp

GUEST PREACHER TODAY: KAT ARMAS

As we enter into the Advent season, we are so excited to host Kat Armas as our guest preacher! Kat Armas is a Cuban American writer, speaker, and theologian from Miami, FL. She holds a ThM from Vanderbilt Divinity School, and a dual MDiv and MAT from Fuller Theological Seminary where she was awarded the Frederick Buechner Award for Excellence in Writing.
Her first book, Abuelita Faith: What Women on the Margins Teach Us About Wisdom, Persistence and Strength sits at the intersection of women, decolonialism, the Bible, and Cuban identity. Her second book, "Sacred Belonging: A 40-day Devotional on the Liberating Heart of Scripture" invites readers to encounter the Bible through a decolonized lens, lifting up themes of creation, wisdom, spirit, the body, and the feminine.
Kat currently lives on a small farm in middle Tennessee with her family—which includes her spouse, young children, chickens, goats, pigs, dogs, and cats. Her NEW book, Liturgies for Resisting Empire: Seeking Community, Belonging, and Peace in a Dehumanizing World examines the ideologies of empire that infiltrate daily life and offers a pathway toward liberation

WEEKLY GIVING SUMMARY

Last Week's Giving: $7,259
Weekly Giving GOAL: $25,900

KIDS & YOUTH FAMILY CHECK IN:

The first Sunday of the month is intentionally set aside for families to participate in communion together during the service. What this means for parents and caregivers:
  • 6 months- 2 year-olds: Children start in the sanctuary with parents/caregivers! You can take your child to their classroom when PreK and Grade Schoolers are dismissed before announcements. Please don't drop off before!
  • PreK (3-5 year olds): Children ALSO start in the sanctuary! During dismissal time, children can find their teachers by the family ministry table, where the coloring supplies are. RIGHT BEFORE COMMUNION: Parents & Caregivers are asked to pick up children from classrooms to join for communion.
  • Grade School: Kids will start in the sanctuary and be dismissed (the typical routine). Then, right before communion, grade school leaders will bring your students back in, and they will come find you since they know where you're sitting. If they don't, a leader will help them find you.
  • Youth (6th-12th grade): In Service. Amplify Christmas Party after service in Garage

QUEST BENEDICTION INVITATION

As we prepare for our December 28 Virtual Worship Service, “Worship from Home”, we’re inviting everyone who calls Quest their home to help us close the year in blessing and encouragement.

We’re asking individuals, families, C-Groups, housemates, and friend-groups to record a short video of you singing the Quest Benediction. These videos will be woven together to conclude our time of worship. Please film in portrait (vertical) orientation (image attached).

BENEDICTION: "The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord shine God’s face upon you; And give you peace; And give you peace forever."

Upload your video to this Google Drive folder

Deadline: End of day December 14 so our team has time to edit.

Thank you for sharing your voices and presence as we worship from home and bless one another into the new year.

OMINIRA J-GROUP REQUEST FOR QUEST PHYSICIANS

Ominira, Quest’s prison-focused Justice Group, is preparing to host a mental health workshop on January 23, 2026 at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton, a men’s prison where we’ve been building ongoing relationships through presence and facilitated workshops. As part of Quest’s commitment to supporting and strengthening mental health resources for incarcerated communities, we’re looking for a few mental health professionals to join us in this work.

We’re hoping to find two to three clinicians who can offer a single 2-hour workshop on one or more of the following areas: PTSD; Childhood trauma Grief and tragedy. There’s plenty of flexibility in format, and Quest community members who have led workshops at Shelton in the past will walk alongside you as you prepare. If you have skills in this area and a heart for showing up with humility, presence, and care, we would love to talk with you. Contact Gary Idleburg (glide_2002@yahoo.com) to get connected and learn more

PRAY AND CONNECT

None of us do this life alone. Prayer is one way that we can physically, emotionally, and spiritually stand in solidarity with you during this season.

Let us know how we can be actively praying on your behalf. Share a prayer request. Your request can remain confidential, or you can choose to share it with our wider community. Here are two other ways to connect with community: To share an AMEN, use this form. To connect with the Quest Community, use this form.

WAYS TO PRAY FOR QUEST

  • Pray for the Lead Pastor Nomination Committee as we enter the next season of transition in Leadership; for Pastor Aaron in his Transition Pastor role.
  • Pray for those in our church community, city, and world most impacted by current government administration rollbacks and federal freezes - especially for our trans siblings, the unhoused/housing insecure, and our immigrant neighbors.
